The PAS Syura Council (highest decision-making body of PAS) has determined that it is now necessary for the party to strategize in order to seize control of Putrajaya, as it already governs four states.
In his closing speech on the final day of PAS’ 69th Muktamar at IDCC Convention Centre in Shah Alam, PAS Mursyidul Am (spiritual leader) Datuk Hashim Jasin(pic) shared this announcement.
“On October 14, during the Syura meeting, it was decided that the party must begin planning to take over Putrajaya, given that we already have control over the states of Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Perlis.
“Furthermore, it was decided that the party must have control over the states rather than having the state governments control the party. This is because we believe that it is disadvantageous for religious leaders to rely on political leaders.
“When political leaders rely on religious leaders, the states would function better,” explained Hashim.
He clarified that religious leaders would ensure that politicians stay true to their duty of serving the people.
“It is better to have the endurance and consistency of a tortoise rather than the fleeting success of a hare.
“Perform your duties silently and only make your presence known when it is time, like the head of a locomotive that crashes into anything in its path.
“The problem now is that those who possess the patience of a tortoise want to immediately become the leaders of the locomotive, even though they lack the appropriate strength.
“A hierarchy must be respected in leadership.
“Regarding the party’s policies, the leaders must be allowed to decide; do not exceed their authority,” added Hashim.
