According to Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, the Youth chief of PAS, the party is currently at its highest point in history and must maintain humility while utilizing its parliamentary strength to address the issues faced by the people. He expressed this during his policy speech at the party’s annual general assembly in Shah Alam on October 19. Ahmad Fadhli emphasized the importance of clean governance and working for the betterment of the people to attract foreign direct investment into Perikatan Nasional states.
Ahmad Fadhli also highlighted the increased responsibility of the party’s youth wing following the recent general and state elections, which demonstrated the support of Malay youths. He cited the significant number of votes received by PAS in states won by Perikatan in the state elections held in August. Currently, PAS holds 42 parliamentary seats, the highest among all opposition parties.
Additionally, Ahmad Fadhli criticized the unity government, describing it as defensive and skilled only in rhetoric. He questioned the government’s response to the rice shortage issue, referring to a minister’s statement advising people to reduce their chicken consumption if they cannot afford it. He suggested that the same analogy could be applied to rice shortage and urged the government to take more proactive measures, citing the success of the Terengganu government in addressing the issue through its homegrown rice brand, Beras Ganu.
In his speech, Ahmad Fadhli also encouraged members of PAS Youth to actively engage in agriculture. He believed that PAS should take a more active role in this sector.
The annual general assembly of PAS Youth is held concurrently with the party’s 69th Muktamar in Shah Alam, commencing on October 20.
