PAS will not appeal the Terengganu Election Court’s decision to nullify the party’s victory in the Kemaman parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15), according to Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, the secretary-general of PAS.
The party will not file an appeal against the decision, as reported by Bernama.
Takiyuddin had previously stated that the party would review the judgment before deciding whether to appeal the election judge’s decision.
In the 15th General Election (GE15), the Terengganu Election Court declared the victory of Kemaman MP Che Alias Hamid, representing PAS, null and void.
Judge Anselm Charles Fernandis mentioned that the petitioner, voter Wan Mohamad Hisham Wan Abdul Jalil, successfully proved that corruption had occurred with the intention of influencing voters in GE15.
The court also instructed the respondent to pay RM30,000 to the petitioner.
On February 12, Wan Mohd Hisham’s petition was dismissed after the High Court accepted the objections raised by the respondents in the case.
However, the Federal Court overturned the lower court’s decision on May 2 and ordered the case to be referred back to the High Court for a full hearing of the merits.
