Aeon Co (M) Bhd has taken it a step further this year by offering 201 flavors of mooncakes, leading to their entry in the Malaysia Book of Records for having the most mooncake varieties. Aeon’s chief merchandise and marketing officer, Low Ngai Yuen, received the certificate from representatives of the Malaysia Book of Records at IOI City Mall in Putrajaya.
In addition to this achievement, Aeon recently announced its inaugural Aeon Members’ Choice Awards for mooncakes. The idea behind these awards came from the overwhelming number of mooncake types available in the market. Low mentioned that there are over 800 different types of mooncakes, making it challenging for customers to choose. After sending out questionnaires, Aeon received an impressive 2,882 responses in just two weeks.
The purpose of the awards is to acknowledge the creativity and commitment to quality shown by mooncake suppliers. Aeon wants to encourage mooncake creators to focus on development and research while considering customer feedback. Low expressed her delight in having unique flavors like Musang King and onde-onde available.
With such a vast selection of mooncakes, Low encouraged customers to try new varieties. The announcement of the award winners will also assist customers in making their mooncake choices during this peak shopping period. The gifting of mooncakes is a significant tradition, especially among parents, and customers may want to consider trying something different, such as less sweet or vegan options.
The winners of the Aeon Members’ Choice Awards for mooncakes include Baker’s Cottage and Oversea for the Most Preferred Mooncake Brand, Duria The Night of Brilliance Blackthorn Charcoal for the Most Popular Mooncake, Casahana for the Best Mooncake Design, Hernan Musang King Pandan Snowy Mooncake for the Most Innovative Mooncake Flavour, and Hong Kong MX Mooncake for the Best Mooncake Packaging.
