The Selangor Council of Justices of the Peace congratulates Selangor Raja Muda Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on successfully scaling Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
The council’s president, Datuk Ng Seing Liong, expressed pride in Tengku Amir’s spirit and responsible attitude while conquering the 5,895m peak.
Ng stated that the expedition’s purpose was to raise funds for the establishment of a care center at the Raja Tun Uda Library in Shah Alam, Selangor, which will cater to children with speech and hearing problems.
“This feat will serve as a great example for the youth of Selangor to follow,” he said in a statement.
Tengku Amir was accompanied on the challenging eight-day adventure by his brother-in-law, Datuk Aubry Rahim Mennesson, cousins Datuk Syed Haizam Hishamuddin Putra Jamalullail and Tengku Ezrique Ezzuddean Tengku Ardy Esfandiari, and friend Keong Yeen Yeoh.
Upon reaching the summit, the climbers proudly held up the Raja Muda’s insignia flag, the Malaysian flag, as well as the Selangor and Perlis flags.
The idea for the care center at Raja Tun Uda Library originated when Syed Haizam realized the high cost involved after his four-year-old daughter underwent cochlear implant surgery.
The proposed speech and hearing center will provide free hearing tests and subsidized follow-up treatments for those in need.
