The MCA machinery faces a significant challenge in mobilizing voters for the Pelangai by-election campaign. MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong expressed the need to encourage as many voters as possible to come out and exercise their rights on casting day, which is scheduled for October 7. He also expressed confidence in the support of Chinese voters in the Pelangai state assembly towards the Barisan Nasional (Barisan) candidate.
In a Facebook post on Saturday (Sept 23), Dr Wee expressed gratitude towards all grassroots members who accompanied the Barisan candidate, Datuk Amizar Abu Adam, during the nomination process and the opening of the MCA operations room. Earlier in the morning, Dr Wee accompanied Amizar to the nomination centre for the Pelangai by-election and inaugurated the MCA operations room for the campaign.
Dr Wee emphasized the importance of the entire MCA Bentong Division machinery being able to carry out work and campaigning to support the Barisan candidate’s victory. The ceremony was attended by Pahang MCA chairman Datuk Sri Hoh Khai Mun, Bentong MCA division chairman Datuk Kang Meng Fuat, Pahang MCA Youth leader Wong Siew Mun, former Pahang MCA Youth leader Wong Tze Shiang, Bentong MVA division leaders, and MCA branch chairmen.
The Pelangai seat became vacant following the tragic death of Datuk Seri Johari Harun, 53, in a plane crash in Shah Alam, Selangor on August 17.
