The Penang state government has set aside RM718,250 for the Islamic propagation programme in 2024, according to Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid. He confirmed that several state official programmes have been planned for the coming year, including the Majlis Tilawah Al-Quran, Al-Quran Reciting Programme, Nasyid Festival, Maal Hijrah, and Maulidur Rasul celebration, during his winding-up speech on Thursday (Nov 30).
Under the Islamic affairs committee, a total of RM762,550 has been allocated for the implementation of programs related to Islamic affairs. Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid also highlighted that in the current year, the Penang Islamic Religious Affairs Department has worked with various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to organize Islamic propagation programmes.
These NGOs include the Islamic Propagation Society International, Jaringan Mualaf Malaysia, Gabungan Dakwah Malaysia, Hidayah Centre Foundation, and Pertubuhan Sinar Mutiara. He mentioned that the state government is committed to continuing the collaboration with these NGOs into the following year.
During his speech, Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid expressed the state government’s dedication to the promotion of Islamic principles and values. He emphasized the importance of such programmes in furthering the understanding and appreciation of Islam among the community. Additionally, he encouraged active participation from the public in these initiatives.
