GEORGE TOWN: The upcoming Penang Bridge International Marathon 2024 (PBIM 2024) on Dec 15 is expected to attract over 20,000 runners, says Wong Hon Wai.
The state tourism and creative economy committee chairman said that so far, about 17,000 runners from all over the world had registered to participate in the marathon.
“This year, the marathon will be held at Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge and for the first time ever, the run will begin on the mainland at Aspen Vision City in Batu Kawan,” he said during a press conference at Komtar.
Wong said the marathon venue will make PBIM 2024 the longest bridge run in Southeast Asia.
He said over 20,000 runners from all corners of the globe were going to have an experience like no other they have had before.
He said race categories remain unchanged with runners able to register in the Full Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21.097km) and 10km Run (Open/Junior).
The closing date for registrations is Sept 30.
