The Penang Education Department has given permission for all schools in the state to carry out home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) during the scheduled four-day water supply disruption starting Jan 10, according to deputy director Wan Sajiri Wan Hassan.
He also mentioned that Form Five and pre-university college students would need to attend lessons at school as usual as exams have been scheduled.
“We have obtained approval from the Education Ministry to implement PdPR in all schools throughout the water supply disruption period in the state,” Wan Sajiri said in a statement.
“The state Education Department will distribute notification letters to schools soon,” he added during a Friday interview.
The water supply disruption is set to affect around 590,000 consumers due to two major valve replacement works in Sungai Dua, Butterworth.
Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang announced that the disruption is scheduled for 96 hours from 6am on Jan 10 to 6am on Jan 14. This also involves other ancillary work at 22 locations throughout Penang, as reported by Bernama.
