GEORGE TOWN: Penang is set to host the upcoming International Advertising Association (IAA) World Congress, making it the first time the event will be held in Southeast Asia. The congress is scheduled to take place from March 6-8 and will be jointly co-hosted by IAA Malaysia, Penang Tourism and Creative Economy Committee office (Petace) and Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB).
According to IAA Malaysia president John D Chacho, this event marks a historic milestone for the organization and the state government. He mentioned that the 45th IAA World Congress will be held under the theme “Brand: RE-CODE, for a Better World, Better Life,” and will also commemorate the 85th anniversary of IAA Global and the 30th anniversary of IAA Malaysia and International Women’s Day.
In addition, Chacho highlighted that the congress is in alignment with the Penang2030 Vision, which aims for Penang to become the greenest state in the country by 2030. The event is expected to feature insights from over 30 speakers and will be supported by collaborators such as Google, Meta, Lions, BBC News, Media Prima, and Celcomdigi.
Key figures present during the press conference to announce the congress included Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Petace committee chairman Wong Hon Wai, and PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran.
