Three Singaporean tourists who were involved in the van accident at Bukit Genting on Sunday (Sept 24) night have been discharged from the hospital, according to Penang tourism and creative economy committee chairman Wong Hon Wai. He stated on Monday (Sept 25) that the victims received treatment and are now able to go home. They are scheduled to return home on Tuesday (Sept 26).
Wong also mentioned that three others, which include the Malaysian van driver, are currently admitted at Penang General Hospital, while two more are being treated at a private hospital. Two of the victims at Penang GH have suffered broken bones and will need further examination. Despite the injuries, all the victims are in stable condition.
An incident occurred at 8pm where a van carrying 10 tourists from Singapore veered off the road and fell into a ravine at Bukit Genting. The victims were on their way back to their hotel after having dinner at a nearby restaurant. Sadly, a 62-year-old female tourist lost her life in the crash.
The rescue operation was completed by 10.26pm.
