IPOH: The Perak state assembly has given the green light to the 2024 budget, with 53 out of the 59 assemblymen present during the sitting voting in favor of it. In his closing speech on Thursday (Dec 7), Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad stated that the state government would continue to provide assistance to all constituencies, regardless of whether their elected representatives are from the government or the opposition bloc.
“During the budget presentation, I mentioned that RM45.5 million would be allocated to coordinate, enhance, and strengthen the delivery of government services to all 59 constituencies in Perak,” he said.
“We are in the process of drafting a circular containing guidelines on the procedures, and the state will examine the methods implemented by other states as examples and references,” he added.
“The circular is expected to be presented in January,” he further elaborated.
Saarani also revealed that as of Thursday, the state government had collected about RM1.09 billion in revenue this year. This was followed by the tabling of the RM1.35 billion budget, a record high in the state’s history, on Friday (Dec 1). Of this amount, RM491 million will be designated for development, while RM856 million will go towards operating expenses.
