In Ipoh, Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri revealed that the police have received 443 applications for permits to sell firecrackers and fireworks.
He mentioned that as of March 22, 217 applications have been approved throughout Perak in preparation for the Ramadan month.
However, one application was rejected due to the applicant having a criminal record, while the processing of the remaining 125 applications is still ongoing.
Speaking at a press conference after the 217th Police Day celebration, Comm Mohd Yusri provided updates on the investigation of threatening notes found in front of Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming’s parents’ house in Ayer Tawar, Manjung.
He mentioned that 11 individuals have been questioned, including Nga’s parents and neighbors, but no arrests have been made so far.
CCTV footage from the area and the West Coast Expressway are being reviewed as part of the investigation, and the police are appealing for information from the public to aid in solving the case.
Earlier in the month, Nga’s mother discovered notes with a message warning “Nga Kor Ming Jangan Cabar Islam” (Don’t Challenge Islam) at their residence, leading to the case being investigated under criminal intimidation laws.
Comm Mohd Yusri assured the public of the police’s commitment to providing excellent services and maintaining peace, expressing gratitude for the community’s support in fighting crime.
