IPOH: A person’s attire is not a primary concern when lodging a police report in Perak, says Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

The Perak police chief said no police station would deny anyone’s rights to lodge a report even if the attire does not conform to the guidelines.

“I have always told our officers and personnel that someone’s clothes aren’t a factor to dismiss them for lodging a report.

“I have checked with all the OCPDs that we will not send away anyone due to their attire,” he said when contacted on Friday (Aug 18).

Earlier, a portal reported that a woman used her car seat cushion to cover herself after her dress was deemed too short.

The woman, who is from Johor, was in Perak to lodge a report after she was involved in a car accident here.

Comm Mohd Yusri said no personnel or officers would issue such an order.

“Perhaps, she was worried since there are similar cases happening in other states at different departments.

“Rest assured that Perak police would not do that. However, if it happened, the public can share where it happened and I will conduct a check myself,” he said.

On Feb 12, a woman was refused entry to Kampar Hospital for treatment due to her attire.

Then Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the matter would be investigated.

On March 13, a woman was barred from entering the Companies Commission of Malaysia building by an employee who said she failed to comply with the dress code.
