IPOH: Loh Sze Yee, the Perak Tourism Committee chairman, has expressed his willingness to meet with industry players in the tourism sector to discuss plans for the success of Visit Perak Year 2024.
Loh stated that he had been working tirelessly with various agencies to ensure the achievement of Visit Perak Year 2024.
In response to a complaint about his attitude by an industry player and a comment made by a senior politician, Loh explained that the politician should have conducted an investigation before making any remarks, considering his previous role in the state administration.
Recently, 12 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) involved in tourism expressed their disappointment with the treatment they received from Loh. One of their grievances was the discontinuation of the RM10,000 incentive they received annually.
Razman Zakaria, the Gunung Semanggol assemblyman, emphasized the need for Loh to be more friendly and attentive to the concerns of industry players.
Loh clarified that no incentives were provided to any NGO without proper paperwork.
He emphasized the importance of responsible use of funds, as the money belongs to the public, and invited industry players to meet with him to discuss any issues they may have.
Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, when asked about the matter, stated that he was unaware of the issue. He added that being friendly is subjective and referenced his own experience as a discipline teacher, where not everyone liked him.
