The Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) is set to launch an investigation after body parts believed to belong to an Indonesian man who was attacked by a tiger were discovered in a plantation in Kampung Meranto, Gua Musang.
Mohamad Hafid Rohani, the director of Perhilitan in Kelantan, stated that the search and rescue (SAR) team will be heading to the scene of the incident to conduct the investigation.
“Upon receiving a report from the Gua Musang district police headquarters at 10am on Friday (Nov 10), Perhilitan members and the SAR team departed for the location of the incident,” he said.
“The plantation is situated 55km from Gua Musang and requires one to two hours to reach. The area is only accessible via four-wheel drive vehicles,” he added in a statement on Saturday (Nov 11).
The body parts of 42-year-old Lalu Sukarya Yahya were discovered in a rubber plantation, with indications of an animal attack.
Mohamad Hafid noted that there have been two deaths and an injury among the Orang Asli community in the state as a result of tiger attacks.
He also advised the public to remain cautious and not to provoke any wildlife if they encounter them. – Bernama
