Perikatan Nasional Youth plans to hold a rally to express their dissatisfaction with the decision made on Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s graft charges. Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, the chief of Perikatan Youth, announced that the peaceful assembly will take place in front of a shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 16. The rally is part of the “Save Malaysia Movement” launched by Perikatan on Sept 10. Ahmad Fadhli Shaari urged young people and Malaysians to come together in unity, dressed in white, and carry the Malaysian flag as a symbol of their love for their country.
Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, the chief of Bersatu Youth, also attended the press conference. He stated that the motion to demand an explanation from the Attorney General regarding Ahmad Zahid’s discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) will be the first agenda of Perikatan in the Dewan Rakyat on Sept 11. Wan Ahmad had filed the motion on Sept 8 and is scheduled to raise it at 10am in Parliament. As of now, he has not received an official reply from the office of the Dewan Rakyat Speaker, Tan Sri Johari Abdul.
Wan Ahmad added that he was informed about a meeting with the Parliament Speaker scheduled on Sept 11 at 9am. He expressed his intentions to attend the meeting to hear what the Speaker has to say. On Sept 4, the prosecution’s application for a DNAA was granted by High Court judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah, who provided 11 reasons for the decision. A DNAA allows the accused to be retried for the same charges if the prosecution decides to do so in the future.
