PETALING JAYA: Selangor households with a combined income of below RM15,000 will receive 20 cubic meters of free water if Perikatan Nasional emerges victorious in the state election on Aug 12.
This initiative was revealed by Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin when unveiling the coalition’s manifesto titled ‘Selangor Baharu, Kita Bangkit.’
The manifesto consists of seven main thrusts, 25 approaches, and 112 offers, estimated to be worth over RM2 billion, aimed at addressing the rising cost of living for Selangor residents.
Among the initiatives announced is the Bantuan Prihatin Keluarga Selangor which allocates RM312 million to provide RM400 cash aid on a monthly basis to 65,000 families.
The Bersatu president also announced a yearly allocation of RM200 million to address burst pipes, as well as a replacement program for old water pipes in 100 hotspots throughout the state.
“We will allocate funds worth RM10 million as an incentive for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to implement conservation and preservation programs,” he said during the manifesto launch in Shah Alam on Friday (Aug 4) night.
Muhyiddin stated that the coalition would set aside RM10 million under Selangor Harmoni for NGOs to implement programs fostering harmony among the diverse communities in the state.
“The coalition is dedicated to defending the Federal Constitution and the state constitution, as well as upholding Islam as the federal religion,” he added.
“We are also committed to protecting individuals’ right to practice any faith without discriminating against any groups.
“A special state government agency will be established with an allocation of RM50 million to empower efforts in improving the socio-economic status of minority communities, especially the Indian and Orang Asli communities,” he continued.
Perikatan also pledged to allocate a special fund of RM100 million for young agricultural entrepreneurs to assist in food production and automation, as well as a RM150 million allocation to establish a Mega Food Hub through the Selangor Food Fund.
Muhyiddin also announced plans to transform Selangor into a prestigious tourism destination with an allocation of RM200 million.
The coalition also promised to provide free parking under local councils in the northern parts of Selangor, as well as exempt license fees for hawkers and traders.
Muhyiddin also emphasized the importance of women as the main pillar of society and pledged to allocate RM50 million for government agencies to develop childcare centers in workplaces.
“A new initiative, Wanita Waja, will be introduced to provide RM500 monthly for three months, counseling services, as well as skills and mentoring programs for divorced or widowed women in need of support,” he explained.
