PETALING JAYA: Perkasa says they accept Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s apology over the 1MDB debacle adding that they could back his bid to serve the rest of his prison sentence under house arrest if he pleads guilty to all ongoing cases against him.
Perkasa president Syed Hassan Syed Ali, said that the group believed that the 1MDB issue stemmed from Najib’s “weaknesses and carelessness” that led to him being duped by certain parties.
“If he had admitted to his weakness, mistakes and carelessness, and also immediately stepped down from his posts when the issue was first brought to light, parties such as Bersatu and Perkasa would not have existed.
“Barisan Nasional would have also maintained power after the 14th General Election,” Sinar Harian reported him as saying.
He also said Perkasa urged Najib to plead guilty to all charges in the ongoing cases against him so sentencing can be conducted.
“If all cases are resolved quickly and he is sentenced, Perkasa will be among those at the forefront to urge for a pardon so he can serve his sentence under house arrest,” he said.
