KUALA LUMPUR: The retail prices of RON97 and RON95 petrol as well as diesel will stay the same from July 27 to Aug 2, according to the Ministry of Finance. In a statement released on Wednesday (July 26), the ministry stated that based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula, RON97 will remain at RM3.37 per litre, RON95 at RM2.05 per litre, and diesel at RM2.15 per litre.
In order to protect consumers from increasing global oil prices, the government has decided to maintain the ceiling price of RON95 at RM2.05 per litre and diesel at RM2.15 per litre. It is important to note that the current market prices of these products have exceeded the ceiling price. Nevertheless, the government is committed to safeguarding the well-being and welfare of the people, hence the decision to keep prices unchanged.
The Ministry of Finance has announced that it will continue to closely monitor the global crude oil price trend. If necessary, appropriate measures will be taken to ensure the continued welfare and well-being of the people. This move is aimed at reducing the impact of rising global oil prices on consumers and providing stability in the local market. – Bernama
