PKR to vie for 20 seats in Selangor; Altimet approved for Lembah Jaya.

Caretaker Selangor mentri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari will be defending his Sungai Tua seat in the upcoming Selangor state elections, while rapper Altimet, whose real name is Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, will be the candidate for Lembah Jaya.

On the other hand, Elizabeth Wong, the three-term Bukit Lanjan assemblyman, has been replaced by Phua Pei Lei and will no longer be a candidate.

Najwan Halimi, who recently stirred controversy with a racial remark, will still be the candidate for Kota Anggerik.

As for Negri Sembilan, caretaker mentri besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun will contest the Sikamat seat.

During the announcement of PKR candidates list on Saturday (July 22), Prime Minister and Pakatan Harapan chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that Amirudin and Aminuddin will remain as Pakatan’s Mentri Besar candidates for Selangor and Negri Sembilan, respectively.

Anwar explained that this decision was made after considering the leaders’ performance and their ability to connect with the people.

“Amirudin is one of the most successful MBs in the country,” Anwar said.

In addition, Chow Kon Yeow from DAP will be the chief minister candidate for Penang. Anwar welcomed DAP’s decision and praised Chow’s performance.

Regarding Aminuddin, the discussions to reach an agreement took some time. Anwar emphasized the importance of continuity and stated that the coalition had informed Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi about their decision.

Anwar highlighted that PKR’s strength does not solely lie with him and the top leadership, but also with the strength of the state leadership.

Nomination day for the six state polls is set for July 29, and polling will take place on August 12.
