According to Gua Musang OCPD Supt Sik Choon Foo, a plantation worker named Puruekan Kachi, a 36-year-old Thai national, was tragically killed in an accident involving a tractor at Jalan Ladang, Felda Aring 5, Gua Musang. The incident occurred at around 3pm on Saturday, March 17.
Supt Sik mentioned that investigations indicated that the victim was unloading oil palm fruits on a hilly area in front of the tractor when the tragic incident took place. The tractor, allegedly not properly secured with the handbrake, apparently moved on its own and hit Puruekan, causing him to be thrown forward due to the downward slope before being run over by the vehicle.
Despite still being conscious, the victim was rushed to the plantation office for assistance. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead by the medical officer at Chiku Health Clinic at 4.50pm. His body was later taken to the Forensic Department of Gua Musang Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The case is currently under investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Supt Sik urged the public to provide any relevant information regarding the incident to aid in the investigation. They can contact the Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Division of the Gua Musang district police headquarters at 09-912 1222 or reach out to the investigating officer at 017-283 0392. – Bernama
