Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has made his way to Hamburg from Berlin, where he was on an official visit to Germany, the third largest economy in the world.

Upon his arrival in Hamburg, Anwar is scheduled to attend Friday prayers at the Al-Nour Mosque, which was formerly known as the Capernaum Church before being converted in 2018.

After the prayers, Anwar will be interviewed by the German news agency Deutsche PresseAgentur (DPA).

Following the interview, he will have a meeting with executives from Nexperia, a semiconductor company based in Holland that has operations across Europe, Asia, and the US, serving a global customer base.

In the evening, the Prime Minister will be attending the East Asia Friendship Dinner at the Hamburg City Hall, an event hosted by the German Asia-Pacific Business Association, which is attended by over 300 high-ranking guests.

This event is considered one of the most important occasions celebrating Germany’s relationship with Asia, and it brings together prominent figures from the fields of economics, politics, and diplomacy.

During his time in Berlin, Anwar met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, as well as visited the Siemens Energy plant in Huttenstrabe.

He also participated in a business roundtable meeting with more than 35 captains of industry and potential investors from Europe, discussing various investment opportunities in Malaysia.

At the SME Future Day 2024, Anwar delivered a keynote address and raised concerns about Malaysia’s palm oil exports to Europe and the impact of climate change during a meeting with Deputy Chancellor and Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck.
