    PM Anwar calls for unity of Malaysians to spur nation to greater heights in Hari Raya address

    KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the importance of unity among Malaysians, regardless of race or religion, in order to elevate the nation to greater heights. Speaking in a special address in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Anwar emphasized that the country should not marginalize or antagonize any group, whether they are in the majority or minority.

    Anwar acknowledged the significance of Islam as the federal religion and the advancement of Syariah law in the nation. He emphasized the need to instil values and build a dignified nation without belittling or disrupting the cultural practices of others.

    The Prime Minister’s address was televised on local networks as he called for a balance in the Malaysian spirit of celebrating Aidilfitri.     During Aidilfitri, Anwar called on Malaysians to seek forgiveness for misunderstandings and wrongdoings, highlighting the tradition of “Maaf Zahir dan Batin” as a unique practice that promotes forgiveness and reconciliation. He acknowledged past conflicts and urged sincere forgiveness and reconciliation among individuals.

    Anwar apologized to all Muslims and Malaysians for any unintended offense caused by his words or actions. He emphasized the need for resilience, unity, compassion towards the less fortunate, and success in empowering the people for a strong and prosperous Malaysia.
