KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed Malaysia’s sympathies and condolences to the family of former premier of China, Li Keqiang, who passed away last week.
Anwar and his wife, Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, are deeply saddened by the news.
“His passing is a significant loss to China and I have no doubt that his contributions in strengthening the bilateral relationship between Malaysia and China will be remembered,” Anwar stated in a post on X on Tuesday (Oct 31).
He also extended heartfelt condolences and sympathies to Madam Cheng Hong, the family, and the people of the People’s Republic of China on behalf of the Malaysian government and its citizens.
Various media reports stated that Li, 68, passed away on Friday after suffering a heart attack.
Li served as China’s Premier from 2013 to 2023 and was also the second most powerful member of the ruling Chinese Communist Party from 2012 to 2022. – Bernama
