Malaysia’s international standing has been significantly elevated due to improvements in governance and the assistance provided to investors by civil servants, according to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister. Anwar mentioned that his recent official visits abroad garnered positive feedback from foreign companies and investors who appreciated the efficient and practical approach displayed by Malaysian civil servants. He stated, “They (foreign investors) are now saying that we are more efficient, there are no more leakages, and we are able to make decisions quickly and firmly, which is why they agreed to invest with us.”

During the Prime Minister’s Department monthly assembly, Anwar highlighted the positive description given to Malaysia’s policies and civil servants by foreign investors. He expressed gratitude for the extraordinary reception received during his engagements with them. Anwar emphasized the importance of maintaining this positive attitude among civil servants to further boost the country’s economy. He encouraged civil servants to continue their good work and strive towards taking Malaysia to greater heights.

Despite some lingering issues within small groups, Anwar noted that there is a general consensus that Malaysia now has a better image internationally. He dismissed claims of power abuse by the government and pointed to the statistics and acceptance shown to the country by the international community as evidence of its positive reputation. Anwar clarified that his extensive travels were not for personal satisfaction but for the benefit of the country.

Anwar debunked the notion of engaging in leisure activities during his trips, stating that his focus was solely on official meetings and discussions. He explained, “Trust me, during my visits, all I do is go from the hotel to meetings. I don’t have a meeting one day and play golf the next. No, that was (the old way).” Anwar highlighted his engagements with European Islamic scholars to address Islamophobia and occasional power walks as additional activities during his visits.

Despite acknowledging the challenges of politics, Anwar urged individuals to believe in the data and numbers that reflect the increased investments in the country. He emphasized that Malaysia has not experienced such a significant level of investment before and expressed confidence in the country’s potential for further growth and development. Anwar reiterated his commitment to serving the country’s interests through his engagements and encouraged civil servants to maintain their positive contributions towards economic progress.
