ISTANBUL: The Foreign Minister stated that during the Prime Minister’s conversation with the Turkish Finance Minister on Sunday morning (Oct 22), various economic issues, economic collaboration, tourism, investment, and defense were discussed.
Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir revealed that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Mehmet Simsek shared their viewpoints on ongoing economic matters and the crucial need for financial structural reforms at the present time.
“Moreover, they examined ways to actively enhance bilateral trade relations, encompassing multiple fields, most notably the tourism sector, which holds immense significance for both nations,” he added.
Presently, Anwar is in Istanbul for a two-day working visit to Turkiye. It is anticipated that he will meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan before proceeding to his subsequent working visit to Egypt.
Regarding defense, Zambry mentioned that discussions with the Turkish Finance Minister primarily revolved around the potential for collaborative initiatives in the area of design and production. Turkey is evidently prepared to offer stronger cooperation.
He further mentioned that the meeting also addressed issues arising from the globalization of the economy, with a particular focus on regional or economic cooperation.
Zambry noted that the meeting also touched upon the ongoing developments concerning the Israel-Palestine conflict in Gaza.- Bernama
