The decision on the necessary action to be taken against Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid for expressing support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be made by Perikatan Nasional.
Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin stated that a meeting will be held soon to discuss the issue and reach a final decision following Iskandar Dzulkarnain’s announcement.
“Within one or two days (we will meet), and after the meeting, a decision will be made,” he said when approached at the Parliament lobby.
On October 12, Iskandar Dzulkarnain declared his support for the Prime Minister, explaining that it was to alleviate the financial burdens faced by his constituents due to the increasing cost of living.
Iskandar Dzulkarnain, who expressed his loyalty to Bersatu, also alleged that the Prime Minister had promised to allocate funds for lawmakers supporting the policies of the unity government.
Hamzah, who is also the secretary-general of Perikatan Nasional, claimed that Iskandar was coerced and threatened into supporting Anwar.
Earlier today (October 18), Anwar challenged Hamzah to provide the necessary evidence that Iskandar was pressured to declare his support for the unity government.
Anwar also emphasized that he had not communicated with or met Iskandar Dzulkarnain to discuss obtaining his support.
