    KUALA LUMPUR: Dr Afif Bahardin says he will give a statement on the “Save Malaysia” rally to the police on Monday (Sept 18).

    The Taman Medan assemblyman from Perikatan Nasional confirmed this in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Sunday (Sept 17).

    “I have been invited by @PDRMsia (the police) to give a statement regarding the ‘Save Malaysia’ peaceful assembly in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (Sept 16).

    “God willing, I will be present at the Dang Wangi police headquarters at noon tomorrow to have my statement recorded,” he said in his post.

    The Save Malaysia rally on Saturday concluded without any untoward incident.

    Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said although the rally failed to comply with provisions of the Peaceful Assembly Act, the police took every necessary step to ensure that it ran smoothly.

    The rally began at around 1.15pm at Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru and ended near Sogo Kuala Lumpur at around 3.30pm.

    Dr Afif Bahardin has confirmed that he will be giving a statement to the police regarding the “Save Malaysia” rally on Monday, September 18. In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Sunday, September 17, the Taman Medan assemblyman from Perikatan Nasional stated that he has been invited by @PDRMsia (the police) to provide a statement regarding the peaceful assembly that took place in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, September 16. He expressed his intention to be present at the Dang Wangi police headquarters at noon the following day to have his statement recorded. The Save Malaysia rally concluded without any incidents.

    Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid acknowledged that the rally did not comply with the provisions of the Peaceful Assembly Act, but emphasized that the police took all necessary measures to ensure its smooth operation. The rally commenced around 1:15 PM at Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru and concluded near Sogo Kuala Lumpur at around 3:30 PM.

    Dr Afif Bahardin’s statement about giving a statement to the police was shared on Twitter, where he mentioned being invited by @PDRMsia. He also used the hashtag #SelamatkanMalaysia to refer to the rally. The statement was accompanied by a Twitter post in the Malay language, which translates to “I have been invited by @PDRMsia to provide a statement regarding the ‘Save Malaysia’ peaceful assembly in Kuala Lumpur last night. God willing, I will be present at IPD Dang Wangi tomorrow, Monday at 12:00 PM to record the statement.” The post also includes a tweet from Dr Afif Bahardin, posted on September 17, 2023.
