JOHOR BARU: A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Taman Desa Cemerlang over his alleged involvement in house break-ins and car thefts.
The arrest took place at 3.30am on Saturday (Aug 5) by a team of police from the Desa Cemerlang police station, according to Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak.
“Police have also seized several items including a vehicle, six laptops, two tablets, three identification cards, two mobile phones, three bags, and RM113 in cash,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Aug 6).
Four Indonesian passports were also confiscated during the operation.
Investigations into the suspect’s background revealed that he had a history of eight previous crimes and tested positive for methamphetamine.
Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak stated, “With this arrest, we have successfully resolved four house break-in cases in Desa Cemerlang.” The suspect is currently in remand until Aug 9.
The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for breaking into a house to commit burglary and Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft.
