On Thursday (Sept 28), the police arrested an additional 25 individuals, including six females, as part of Ops Dadu Khas. This operation aims to crack down on online gambling and illegal lottery activities. With these latest arrests, a total of 178 individuals have been apprehended since the operation commenced on Friday (Sept 22).
According to the State police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat, these arrests were made following a series of inspections at 17 different establishments throughout Johor. The suspects, ranging in age from 19 to 54 years old, include two foreigners. As part of the operation, the police confiscated 24 mobile phones, five printers, and a total of RM3,371 in cash.
Since the initiation of Ops Dadu Khas, a total of 153 premises have been checked and 178 individuals have been arrested. Comm Kamarul Zaman stated that the case is being investigated under Section 4A(a) and 4B(a) of the Open House Gambling Act 1953. He added that the local authority will cancel the licences of the establishments involved, and Tenaga Nasional Bhd will disconnect their electricity connections.
