    Two Road Transport Department (JPJ) enforcement officers in Kota Bharu were taken into custody on suspicion of having 13 bottles of ketum water at a residence in Tanah Puteh, Jalan Kuala Lipis, Gua Musang, near the area on March 4th. Kelantan’s police chief, Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun, confirmed that the two individuals, aged 24 and 28, were apprehended at their respective places of residence. Both suspects have tested negative for drugs and have no prior criminal records.

    During a press conference on Tuesday (March 12) at the Kelantan Police contingent headquarters, Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun stated that the case is being investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952. The suspects have been remanded for three days until tomorrow. Additionally, the police disclosed that a total of 978 individuals, both local and foreign, were detained for various offenses under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Poisons Act 1952 in Kelantan from March 1 to March 11.

    “During the special screening operation, a variety of drugs, vehicles, and assets amounting to RM450,819 were confiscated,” highlighted Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun.

    Despite the arrests, the individuals in question have been confirmed to not have any prior involvement in criminal activity. The case is currently under investigation by the authorities, and the suspects remain in custody pending further legal proceedings. The operation conducted by the police resulted in a significant number of individuals being apprehended for various violations related to drug and poison-related offenses within the state.
