KUALA LUMPUR: Police are currently investigating 54 cases related to the Snuppee Mall fraud, which resulted in losses exceeding RM1 million.

Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa, the deputy director of Bukit Aman Commerical Crime Investigation Department, stated that initial investigations revealed that Snuppee Mall claimed to be a platform for generating additional income online.

“Individuals who were interested in the scheme were required to register, purchase packages ranging from RM50 to RM13,700, and complete assigned tasks,” he said in a statement on Friday (Feb 3).

“The amount of commission received varied based on the selected packages. At the end of January 2024, Snuppee Mall began offering 80% cashbacks for each additional deposit made into the Snuppee account.”

Rohaimi explained that many users, enticed by the offers, transferred money to the company. However, on January 29, 2024, Snuppee Mall announced that they had gone bankrupt and ceased all operations.

He urged victims of the scheme to come forward and report the fraud at the nearest police station, as investigations are being conducted under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

“The police are dedicated to conducting a thorough investigation in line with the law to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice expeditiously,” he added. – Bernama
