Police in Kuala Lumpur have initiated an investigation into the Turun Parlimen #Reformasi100Peratus gathering that took place near the entrance to the Parliament building on Tuesday (Feb 27).
The Dang Wangi police chief, ACP Noor Dellhan Yahaya, stated that the organizers of the gathering will be summoned to provide statements as they did not notify the police at least five days in advance of the rally.
He mentioned that the case will be looked into under Section 9(1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
Under Section 9(1) of the act, organizers are required to inform the authorities at least five days prior to the assembly and submit relevant documentation.
Initially, approximately 60 participants gathered at Plaza Tugu Negara (National Monument) and marched around 900 meters to the Parliament building.
Among their demands was the implementation of the 100% reform agenda and a halt on the issuance of discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) for high-profile corruption cases.
A check by Bernama at the venue revealed that participants from the rally organized by the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) began assembling at 7:30 am.
Several Members of Parliament, including Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh (Ledang), William Leong Jee Keen (Selayang), Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari (Sungai Petani), and Hassan Abdul Karim (Pasir Gudang), were handed the list of demands by the organizers outside the Parliament building. – Bernama
