KUALA LUMPUR: The repair and maintenance of police quarters and facilities across Malaysia will receive an additional allocation of RM100mil. This allocation is part of the RM150mil announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the maintenance of agencies under the Home Ministry.

The director of Bukit Aman Logistics and Technology Department, Datuk Seri Sahabudin Abd Manan, stated that the distribution of the allocation will be based on applications submitted by PDRM contingents throughout the country. He emphasized that the allocation will prioritize dilapidated facilities.

Sahabudin explained that the funds will be utilized for repairing and maintaining police quarters, police stations, police posts, fences, walkways, halls, toilets, and other related facilities. He added that the police force already has a list of maintenance works that need to be addressed.

The Prime Minister’s announcement of the extra allocation includes RM45mil specifically for repair and upgrading works at 117 General Operations Force (GOF) control posts and RM40mil for infrastructure and facilities related to the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom).

Furthermore, the government has allocated over RM500mil in the budget for 2023 to maintain armed forces family quarters and repair facilities under the Home Ministry, including PDRM.

Sahabudin expressed gratitude for the additional allocation, stating that it will greatly assist in repairing old police quarters and stations. He highlighted that previous yearly allocations ranged between RM30mil and RM40mil, making this additional funding significant in improving the living conditions of police personnel.

“This shows that the government cares about PDRM personnel, and we are grateful to the government,” he concluded.
