Police in Shah Alam have taken the statement of a man suspected of leaving a suitcase containing RM500,000 in cash in the parking lot of a shopping centre in Damansara on March 19. Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that the man was identified as the person who placed the bag there, as seen in closed circuit camera (CCTV) footage of the area.
According to Hussein, the man’s statement suggests that he is indeed the individual who left the bag with the money in the parking lot. However, the motive behind his actions remains unknown. This information was shared during a press conference held after the launch of a road safety campaign in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri on April 6.
Hussein clarified that the man in question is not the same person who claimed ownership of the money earlier and is rumored to be the director of an information technology company. Nevertheless, the possibility that the man is affiliated with the company has not been ruled out. Additionally, seven fingerprints were discovered on the bag, prompting further investigations to identify them.
At a previous instance, Hussein mentioned that three more witnesses would be called in for questioning following the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations. The investigation is ongoing to unravel the mystery surrounding the abandoned suitcase filled with cash.
