Multiple police reports have been filed in 12 states across Malaysia regarding the alleged Dubai Move, according to Prime Minister’s senior political secretary, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.
Shamsul Iskandar stated that these reports were made in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Melaka, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Perak, Penang, Kedah, Pahang, Sabah, Perlis and Sarawak.
He expressed confidence that more police reports would be filed to prompt investigations by law enforcement.
Insisting on the need to put an end to discussions about changing the prime minister or overthrowing the government, Shamsul Iskandar emphasized the importance of these police reports to initiate formal investigations.
Shamsul Iskandar clarified that he did not identify any specific individuals behind the Dubai Move in his police report.
He expressed confidence that the police would ask the necessary questions once statements are recorded and reiterated the need for a thorough police investigation into the matter.
Shamsul Iskandar mentioned his certainty that the Dubai Move is being led by several Opposition leaders, whom he did not name, and warned that their actions could potentially endanger the country’s political stability.
He urged the police to look into this movement, which he argued is in clear violation of Section 124b and 124c of the Penal Code.
Section 124 of the Penal Code pertains to activities that are harmful to parliamentary democracy and carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
According to the deputy director-general of the Community Communications Department (J-Kom), Datuk Ismail Yusop, the Dubai Move allegedly took place while opposition and government leaders were vacationing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital on December 30.
Despite strong denials from several Perikatan leaders about their involvement in the purported plot, Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor asserted that the Opposition had already secured enough statutory declarations to establish a new government.
Shamsul Iskandar dismissed Muhammad Sanusi’s claims about the Opposition acquiring sufficient SDs, likening the matter to karaoke and emphasizing the seriousness of the issue.
When questioned about his doubts regarding the authenticity of the Dubai Move, Shamsul Iskandar stated that it was the reason he lodged a police report.
He expressed confidence that the multiple police reports would prompt law enforcement to take decisive action.
