IPOH: The police are searching for an Indian national who allegedly engaged in a sexual harassment incident in Manjoi, according to Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan.
The Ipoh OCPD stated that the individual, who works as a barber at a shop in Manjoi, reportedly committed the crime on Tuesday (Aug 1) at approximately 1.25pm.
“After the incident, the man is believed to have fled,” Yahaya said.
“The victim, a 37-year-old woman, filed a police report on the same day at the Jelapang police station,” he stated in a press release.
“The case will be investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act.
“Anyone with information about the incident is urged to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting Senior Investigating Officer Asst Supt Yap Siew Cheng at 012-909 3362,” he added.
ACP Yahaya was addressing a police report posted on Facebook by Siti Hajar Ghazali, which had garnered public attention.
According to the report, the Indian national allegedly made lewd remarks towards the woman while cutting her son’s hair.
