KUCHING:The General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion 12 conducted a raid in Permy Technology Park in Miri on Wednesday (April 3) and seized a quantity of cigarettes and alcoholic beverages of various brands valued at over RM310,000.
As a result of the raid, a 26-year-old man was arrested at 10.30am, according to Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu.
“Upon inspecting the premises, the police discovered various brands of duty-free cigarettes and alcoholic beverages,” he stated in a release today.
All confiscated items have been transferred to the Miri district police headquarters for further investigation and potential action under the Customs Act 1967, Alexson added.
He cautioned the public against getting involved in or cooperating with individuals engaged in the buying and selling of untaxed goods.
“Stringent measures will be taken against anyone participating in such activities, and it is recommended that the public obtain their supplies from legitimate distributors and report any suspicious behavior to the authorities,” he advised. – Bernama
