In Kuala Lumpur, the police have not received any official notification regarding the planned assembly by the Coalition for Clean and Fair Election (Bersih). City police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid mentioned in a statement on Sunday (Feb 25) that no notice had been provided to the police in accordance with Section 9 (1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
He emphasized that proceeding with an assembly without prior notice would be a violation of the said act. “As such, the police advise everyone not to participate in any gathering that does not comply with the requirements of the law,” he stated, also warning that “strict” action would be taken as per the law.
Bersih had previously announced their intention to hold a gathering at Parliament on Tuesday, February 27, as part of their #Reformasi100peratus campaign.
