DSP Rohana mentioned that the two policemen had traveled to Kuching on March 6 to escort explosive materials from a company in Kuching to Kapit.

“The following day, they set off on a fibra boat from SK Lepong Baleh jetty in Kapit towards a timber camp in Ng Tulie,” she explained.

DSP Rohana reported that the boat, carrying five people, was struck by strong waves which led to it capsizing.

Fortunately, one person was rescued by a civilian who managed to pull him out of the water.

The search and rescue operation for the remaining four individuals is currently in progress.
