In an address during a ceramah for the Kemaman by-election, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the effectiveness of the current unity government in achieving political stability through strategic plans and strategies.
Anwar criticized the opposition for making negative remarks and instead emphasized the government’s focus on its duty to the country and its people.
He highlighted various achievements, including bringing in investments, reducing poverty, and improving education and vocational training for the youth in the country.
Anwar also emphasized the government’s focus on small businesses and local eateries, rather than mega projects and luxury establishments, as a way to benefit the public.
He expressed confidence in the stability of the government’s politics, attributing it to their well-devised plans and continuous implementation of programs.
He also noted that the political stability in the country allowed him to voice the strong stance of Malaysians on international platforms, such as the recent 2023 APEC Summit in the United States.
Anwar emphasized that a continued political stability in the country would enable Malaysia to take a stronger stand on various international issues, beyond just addressing local matters.
He also defended the government’s stance against opposition criticisms, highlighting the approvals of Islamic-related initiatives with no objections from the opposition party, DAP.
Anwar urged the people of Kemaman to prioritize morals in the upcoming by-election and emphasized the importance of sending a strong signal through their vote.
The Kemaman parliamentary seat by-election will see a straight fight between Barisan Nasional’s Gen (R) Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor and Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar representing PAS.
The by-election was called following the decision of the Terengganu Election Court on Sept 26 to annul the victory of PAS candidate Che Alias Hamid in the 15th general election.
Kemaman voters are scheduled to go to the polls on Saturday, Dec 2.
