GUA MUSANG: The Works Ministry has assured that there will be no disruption to traffic flow on expressways due to roadworks ahead of the six state elections on Aug 12, including the Central Spine Road (CSR) project, according to Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad.
In anticipation of the increased volume of vehicles on the expressway from Aug 11 as voters return to their home states to cast their ballots, all works, including construction work on the CSR, will be halted at least a week prior to polling day, Abdul Rahman told reporters after inspecting the CSR project at KM251 (FT008) near the Felda Chiku 3 bridge here on Sunday (July 30).
The construction of the 360km CSR project is progressing smoothly and is closely monitored by the ministry, he added. Meanwhile, there will be some traffic disruption for two days, Aug 1 and 2, in the Felda Chiku area up to Paloh (FT008) due to the installation of five new bridge beams across Sungai Chiku for the CSP Project Package 2 Sungai Lakit Bridge to Gua Musang, and Section 2B: Paloh 2 to Bukit Sejuk.
As an alternative route, motorists can use Jalan Felda Aring from Kota Baru to Kuala Lumpur, Abdul Rahman said. The CSR package aims to benefit the people on the east coast, particularly those traveling from Kota Baru, Kuala Krai, and Gua Musang to Lipis, Raub, and Bentong.
“We are targeting completion by early 2026, which involves all packages from Kota Baru to the intersection of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak highway or the East Coast Expressway (LPT) in Bentong,” he added. – Bernama
