IPOH: The issue of traffic congestion near Kea Farm, a popular tourist spot in Cameron Highlands, can potentially be resolved if a solution is found for the parking problem in the area, according to Regional Environmental Awareness Cameron Highlands (Reach) president A. Dilip Martin. He pointed out that visitors often park their vehicles along the road due to a lack of parking spaces in Kea Farm, which not only causes congestion there but also affects traffic flow all the way to Tanah Rata.
Martin also expressed skepticism towards the proposed new road from Habu to Tanah Rata, which was announced during the revised Budget 2023 in February. He argued that even with a new road, the congestion issue would persist if there were still no proper parking facilities available. Martin emphasized that the main problem lies in Kea Farm, and urged the Federal or Pahang state governments to reconsider a previous plan to develop a business park in the area.
He stated that this business park plan was initially proposed in 2012 and claimed that a piece of land has already been approved for it. The proposed business park would feature a multi-storey car park, shops, a toilet, and a surau. Martin added that the identified land for this development is a secondary forest area that is not situated near any hillslopes that could lead to landslides.
