The tire of a monorail traveling to the Titiwangsa Monorail Station caught fire before falling onto Jalan Tun Razak last Tuesday, alarming road users in the vicinity.
No casualties or injuries were reported among passengers or road users, and the Monorail operations were not affected by the incident at 12:57 pm.
Earlier, Loke launched the Kajang Line Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Women’s Coach pilot project at Bandar Tun Hussein Onn MRT Station.
Loke has also assured that the ministry and Prasarana are committed to improving the infrastructure of public transport services, including vehicle maintenance and Monorail stations.
“Currently, all doors at the platform of the monorail stations are not working, and the problem was identified several years ago due to the inability to integrate the existing system.
“As a result, Prasarana has been tasked with resolving this issue,” he said, noting that the original contractor of the system is no longer in operation.
It is anticipated that the issue will be resolved in the fourth quarter of 2024. – Bernama
