A four-month pregnant Orang Asli woman named Nana Toni, 32, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on Monday (Feb 19) at 3pm at KM37.8 of Jalan Seremban-Tampin, Pekan Kota, Seremban. She was riding on the motorcycle with her three-year-old son, and both sustained head injuries as a result of the collision.

The motorcycle was being driven by Nana’s 28-year-old brother, and it is believed that he recklessly changed lanes at a road junction, leading to the collision with a dental clinic van. The van was traveling from Seremban towards Tampin, and the motorcycle was heading in the direction of the Kota Clinic towards Pekan Kota.

Nana’s injuries were severe, and she was rushed to Rembau Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries at 4.30pm. Her brother also suffered injuries to his hands and legs.

Deputy Supt Hazri Mohamad, the Rembau OCPD, stated that initial investigations indicated that the motorcycle changed lanes from left to right and was hit by the van. The tragic incident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The entire situation has understandably resulted in great tragedy and heartache, particularly as Nana was four months pregnant at the time of her untimely passing. The loss of her life and her unborn child’s life is a devastating blow to her family and community.
