KUALA LUMPUR: The retail prices of RON 97 petrol, RON 95 petrol, and diesel will remain the same for the period of October 5 to 11. RON 97 petrol will be priced at RM3.47 per litre, while RON 95 petrol and diesel will both stay at RM2.05 and RM2.15 per litre, respectively.
In a statement on Wednesday (October 4), the Finance Ministry explained that these prices were determined using the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula, which considers the weekly retail prices of petroleum products.
To cushion consumers against the rise in global oil prices, the government has decided to maintain the ceiling prices of RON 95 petrol and diesel. Despite the fact that the market prices for both products have exceeded the current ceiling prices, they will remain at RM2.05 per litre and RM2.15 per litre, respectively.
The Finance Ministry also stated that it will closely monitor global crude oil price trends and implement necessary measures to safeguard the welfare and well-being of the populace. This was reported by Bernama.
