For the first time, individuals from the general public have the opportunity to apply as invigilators for the 2023 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations, according to the Education Ministry. The ministry made this announcement through a Facebook post on Sunday (Sept 17) and invited interested individuals to submit their applications. The application period is open from Sept 12 until Oct 31, and interested individuals can submit their application forms to the Education director in their respective states via the link https://bit.ly/44KmnxL.
The ministry stated in its announcement that successful applicants shortlisted as volunteer candidates will be scheduled for interviews at a nearby district education office. To be eligible for the position, applicants must be Malaysian citizens aged between 18 and 65. Additionally, they must possess at least an SPM qualification or an equivalent qualification recognized by the government, have no criminal record or court actions against them, and possess their own transportation.
The ministry highlighted that this initiative is one of the seven measures introduced to alleviate the workload of teachers, as announced by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek on Feb 17. The ministry further specified that there are five categories of applicants. Category 1 includes retired government employees under the Education Service Officer scheme. Category 2 comprises students from public higher education institutions, private higher education institutions, teacher training institutes, and foundation or matriculation graduates. Category 3 consists of teachers from state government religious secondary schools, private schools, and Mara Junior Science Colleges. Category 4 includes government contract workers or contractual employees, while Category 5 encompasses non-government employees or retired government and private sector individuals.
