PUTRAJAYA: According to Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, the public is being encouraged to wear batik during the National Day celebrations on Aug 31st at Dataran Putrajaya. This is not only to enliven the celebrations but also to support the local batik industry. Fahmi mentioned that they want to promote and highlight batik clothing and fashion as something all Malaysians should be proud of. He made these statements after inspecting preparations for the National Day celebrations on Saturday.

Bernama has reported that the upcoming National Day celebrations at Dataran Putrajaya will be vibrant as more than 400 pairs of Malaysian batik attire will be worn by ministers, VIP guests, and secretariat members. When asked about preparations for the celebrations, Fahmi, who is also the chairman of the National Day and Malaysia Day Celebration Main Committee, stated that everything is going smoothly. The ministry is currently addressing timing issues to ensure a problem-free event.

Fahmi assured that there won’t be any telecommunication disruptions during the event as several Cell On Wheels (COW) vehicles from telecommunication service providers will be deployed around Dataran Putrajaya. He has instructed the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to handle the equipment needed for this purpose. In order to avoid any issues affecting the work of personnel involved, Fahmi urged all stakeholders, including media personnel, to test internet coverage and telecommunication signals on the dress rehearsal day on Aug 29th.
