KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the need for public sector organizations to improve the delivery of services transparently, efficiently and in a people-friendly manner, as they support the government’s agenda. He stated that this is crucial for ensuring harmony and prosperity in the country.
Prime Minister Anwar highlighted the government’s emphasis on sustainability and holistic well-being to ensure that government policies benefit the people, particularly in a world grappling with power struggles, sluggish global economic trade, and environmental crisis.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof delivered Anwar’s speech at the opening of the Local Government Development Ministry’s Excellence Awards 2023, where he stressed the importance of dedicated public sector employees in delivering excellent public services as part of the machinery responsible for the government’s plans.
Anwar mentioned that the National Industrial Plan, Mid-Term Review of the Malaysia Plan, and Budget 2024 will only be fully realized through dynamic and aggressive service, emphasizing the need for effective sustainability and public service governance to counter negative perceptions.
He commended the ministry’s initiatives, such as MyKiosk and Rumah Mesra Rakyat Madani (RMR) Homes, for their positive impact on the local economy, stating that these initiatives are aligned with the spirit of the Madani economy and directly benefit the people.
One such initiative is the construction of 4,250 RMR units with a RM20,000 subsidy for each home and low monthly payments for rural communities to build their own homes. Additionally, 3,209 solar-powered MyKiosk stalls with low rental rates have been built to empower the B40 group to start businesses and increase their income.
Anwar expressed pride in the ministry’s immediate steps to embrace and drive the implementation of the Madani Economic Framework, and urged for this spirit to be maintained to yield the desired results.
